About Cesium

Cesium is a soft, gold-colored alkali metal most notable for its use in atomic clocks, which form the basis of GPS satellite navigation and global telecommunications timing. Supply is extremely concentrated, with only a handful of mines worldwide. Cesium formate brines are also used as high-density drilling fluids in the oil and gas industry.
